Welcome to Bob Coggins for U.S. Senate 2012. If you are here I'm sure you are aware that I was a
candidate for the Senate race in 2010, I have bowed out of that race to focus on working to taking over Sen.
Nelson's seat in 2012. The coming election will be a battle between Gov. Charlie Crist and former Speaker of
the Florida House Marco Rubio. I was not much of a fan of Gov. Crist as a republican, but now that he has
become and independent candidate I have found more respect for him and his campaign. The republican
party is being divided between it's moderate and conservative members, and the party is struggling to
represent the ideals of all the people who identify with the party. I admire Gov. Crist's choice to add a third
option to the November election by having a republican, democrat, and strong independent candidate for the
voters to choose from. We will be allowed to pick from a candidate from the far left, far right, and middle,
choices we normally are not afforded in November.
My belief is that a new party should be formed to end the major divide within the republican party and the
lesser divide that the democrats are facing. My goal is to resurrect the ideals of our founding fathers with an
old party founded anew. The Democratic-Republican party, originally formed by founding fathers James
Madison and Thomas Jefferson, would be the best of the current and divided parties bearing the same
names. The new Democratic-Republican party would be based upon socially liberal and fiscally conservative
ideals. Including strong support for individual citizens rights such as; gun ownership rights -Second
Amendment protection, the right of woman to choose to have an abortion or not, Gay/Lesbian rights, and the
protection of all other rights of man expressed in the Constitution. The fiscal ideals for this new party are; to
balance the federal budget, lower spending and taxes, eliminate "pork" by allowing the president a line-item
veto, and to responsibly support small business growth. Other key ideals are to enact term-limits on both the
House of Representative and U. S. Senate, promote a strong national defense along with supporting our
nations Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines. This new party is based on thoughtful decision making, with the
benefit and best interest of the people at the heart of all choices, instead of political gain or partisan
wrangling. Accountability, transparency, honesty, and loyalty to the people will be and are the hallmarks of
the new Democratic-Republican party. Join with me in ushering in a new era in American politics, let's take
back what is ours in the first place.
