When I started my campaign to become your U.S. Senator I promised to tell the truth whether
you like it or not. I gave my word that I would not be a politician, rather I would be only what I am, and
who I am is someone who cares what happens to the people of this country and the future citizens
we will be leaving this nation to. My reason for running for U.S. Senate is only to represent regular
people with a powerful voice in Congress, a voice that cannot be swayed by lobbyists or the political
machine in Washington. I have nothing materially, therefore they can take nothing from me. I want
nothing, so I cannot be bought or bribed. I only have my obligation to the people, to represent them
as they would themselves. I have the great fortune of having a wonderful wife, a beautiful daughter,
and an awesome dog to share my life with, and they are all that I want or need. I do have a 2006
Chevy Cobalt that I am still paying for, it gets me from point-A to point-B...all I can ask for. We live in
the same condo we did when my wife and I got married, a condo that we rent from a nice family who
lives in Jupiter, FL. My wife and I could not afford it alone so we have two roommates. I will have my
cobalt until it falls to pieces, and I will have my roommates as long as we all want to live in our
house, as your Senator none of this will change.
I am not a rich man monetarily, but I have a great wealth that drives me to do what is right...my
family. We cannot afford my run for Senate but my wife and I are doing what we must to get through
this tough time. My wife apparently sees something in me that has allowed her to sacrifice this time
of our lives and
what little money we do have, which we could be putting to personal use. She is my
inspiration and all the support a husband could ever ask for, even a husband running for federal
office.
One of the greatest pieces of advise I have ever received from a superior in my career was "it's
not your job to make people happy, it's to do the right thing and make sure everyone else does too."
The odd part of this statement is that I was working with people in a service industry setting, but it
holds true. Doing the right thing is always a good thing no matter how it comes across, but trying to
make people happy does not always work and is hard to sustain over time. The point of all this is
that I will not lie to you, I will not cheat you or the future of America, I live too simple a life to care what
the lobbyists in Washington want, and I damn sure do not care if anyone gives me grief for doing
what is right. On this, I give my word.
